Always start out with a larger pot than what you think you need.

― Julia Child

I have a love hate relationship with my kitchen. It’s like grand central station. At times hectic with the ebb and flow of children, farm guests and pets. Frequently a space that reflects the seasons and circadian rhythms of the family. The kitchen is a place for conversation, happiness, food fulfillment.

When the kids come in from school (followed in by the dogs which were only just moments before scratching their hairy backs on the dusty earth next to the barn and then contentedly track pounds of it in…); the kids kick off their shoes and backpacks are dumped onto the long kitchen table, threatening homework. The air fills with the chitter-chatter of the days’ events while they rummage in the fridge or pantry.

I generally order a summary hand washing and then commence making dinner.

I invite you in, mind the mud and don’t trip over the dog. Just shove those backpacks to the side. Take a seat at the kitchen table and lets cook together.
